We believe that the church needs to be devoted to and involved in the lives of children, and that children need to be invested in the life of the Church and their life of faith.
The purpose for Children’s Ministries at First United Methodist Church (New Smyrna Beach) is to provide training for young people throughout their childhood that will lead to a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and to instill an understanding of the Christian faith. To accomplish this, we offer many opportunities throughout the year to guide the spiritual development of the children who are involved in our Children’s Ministry.
- Children’s Church: Children are always welcome in worship! Children may participate in Children’s Church during the 11:00 worship, which involves coming to the front and hearing a story during ‘Children’s Time’, and then going with adult volunteers to our Education Building (located behind the Sanctuary) to participate in other child-centered activities—singing, praying, and studying the Word of God through fun, hands-on Bible stories and crafts.
- Nursery: Available for younger children in our Education Building, and you can be assured that they will be loved and cared for while you worship.
- Sunday School: In Sunday School, children learn about God, develop a personal relationship with Jesus, learn about and understand the Bible, and grow in their faith.
- Children’s Ministry Staff: Our caring staff are church volunteers. They all have been interviewed, have background checks, and are serving in the Children’s Ministry because they love and enjoy working with our children! Many are currently teachers in the public school system or have retired from it.
